Merry Christmas!!

From our Family to yours we wish you all a Merry Christmas!! We have been keeping busy this past year, with our growing little boy and our jobs as well as everything in between. Dillon is a big fan of the movie Cars! Every time it comes on he gets really excited. We don't have the movie so when we see it on TV he gets excited! He loves nursery at church and he is one of the smartest kids I know, that may also be my own bias that's alright. He is a joy to have in our family and we love him so much. He has asked on his own to be picked up. He is trying to put sentences together it is so fun to watch. Mikel and I are doing well just trying to keep up with Dillon. Once again Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Colorado Mormom Chorale!

Here in Colorado we have a Choir group that is called the Colorado Mormon Chorale and they travel around the state and sing for different groups of people. We had the opportunity to go to the first, in Parker, Childrens concert. Dillon loved it he wanted to hold a hymn book and try to sing with them, he watched them move and he did alot of the same movements as the choir people. He got so into it. When they sang Frosty the Snowman he got all excited and kept saying "snowman snowman!" That has been his new thing lately. He had so much fun and sat really well until the last song, that was when he was ready to go. After we all sang the last song Silent Night the choir people handed out candycanes to all of us. It was awesome! I really hope they do it again next year!

Christmas Activity!

Last friday we had a ward Christmas activity and Mikel and I were in charge of helping out with the play that the children were putting on of the Christmas story. We had been working with them for weeks to get everything to look good and all. When it finally came down to it they did a great job and came through. I was not able to watch the show as I was backstage but I heard from many people that they were wonderful!! After the play the choir sang some really fun festive songs. It was fun to watch them get into it and sway around. After the choir sang Santa showed up! He came out singing "Santa Clause is coming to town" He was really entertaining! There of course was food and lots of it! We had a great night. Dillon was unable to see Santa at the activity so we were able to have him show up at our house!

If you couldn't tell that is Mikel in the suit!

Twilight!

I have never gone to see a movie on the first day it comes out, but this one I decided to make an exception. I have been waiting to see this movie ever since I heard that they were making a movie about it. I have read all the books and love them all. I also wasn't sure how Robert Patterson and Kristen Stewart were going to do in the movie. I wasn't sure if that was the best choices to play those characters, but I was amazed at how well they did. I found it very intresting the things that you wouldn't notice or know with out reading the book. There were also a few things that I liked their interpretation of as well. I liked the movie and liked how it was pretty true to the book. I know you can't get it exact because of the time limit they have on movies that is the same with Harry Potter. I do like how they portraed the Cullens and thought they did a good job with them. I did think that Alice was a little more bouncy and what not, but I still liked it and can't wait to see it again!

Halloween is late!

I have been trying to get a pic of our Dillon in his costume from halloween since we had forgotten but still haven't got it done, so I have decided to post about it anyway. He was a little army man. He wore camo's that we had gotted for him the previous year and put a army hat on him. He was so cute! Mikel took him to trunk or treat and he had a good time there eating pretzels and hanging out with the kids. He also had a blast going around from trunk to trunk.

On Halloween day I had the day off so I got to spend time with him and Mikel as we took him to Walmart and went trick or treating in the store. It was so fun to watch him, because when he was able to pick something he usually went for the biggest thing there and needed to use two hands to get, witch were the popcorn balls. It was fun to watch how he was picking up the idea of pick a candy and put it in his bag.

Later that night we went over to my family's house to trick or treat around the neighborhood. He had so much fun walking up to the door wanting to ring the door bell and picking candy to put in his bag. He also loved the idea of holding his bag. He had so much fun and worked his magic on those handing out candy and ended up getting more then others. As far as the candy it is stil not yet gone we have just a small amount left and he has no idea.

Happy Birthday Dillon!!

I can't believe that my son has turned 2 today! It is hard to believe that it has been 2 years. It seems like only yesterday we were in the hospital waiting for our little one to be born. He has been doing so much. He mimics everything we do especially what his daddy does. He talks quite a bit and we understand him most of the time. He loves to go outside and down the slide. He wants to do things for himself, and wants to be more independent every day. He adores our cat and he is learning to be nicer to him and pet him nicely. He loves to eat and will eat just about anything. He especially loves fruit. This past year we have moved him from his crib to a toddler bed and he has done very well with it. He had also got his first set of molars in as well, that was quite the experience. I am amazed every day with how much he knows. He loves to say prayers and knows when we do say them, he also tries to mimic us with that as well. We have even caught him saying his own prayers. We have no idea what he is saying but he says "amen" and he is done. It is so cute to watch. He also likes to sing with us in Church. When we pull the Hymnal out to sing he wants one as well so he can sing with us. He is one incredible child and is one of the more advanced children I know, maybe that is my own biased but I sure think so. He loves his bears. He has so many stuffed animals and he really takes care of them like they are babies, go figure. He is not around babies much at all and he is picking it up. I believe he will make a great big brother. I can't wait to see what he will be like when baby 2 does come (no not pregnant yet). There is probably so much more that he is doing and what not that is not coming to me now. Happy Birthday Dillon!!

Atlanta Trip Day 2

Friday was another early morning. We had to get up at 5:30am (3:30 am MST), to get breakfast before loading the buses to head to Columbus for the tours of Aflac Headquarters. This was one time we were not all that excited to go, but we went anyway. The ride was the worst part of it all, 2 hours long! The first campus we went to was where all the claims, call center and stuff like that were. They even had mail robots, but they were not around while we were there it was a little disapointing.

The duck pond out side the building of our first stop.

More duck pond.

If you have ever been to the east coast it is much different that our west cost or at least Colorado, we saw trees everywhere!

The Aflac Tower, our next stop

Aflac tower

Up in the Aflac tower we got to see the founder of Aflac, we were able to meet him up on the 19th floor we also got to be in the confrence room, it was really cool.

The confrence room, the table is a semi circle and all in one piece!

More confrence room

Chandelers in the confrence room, the building sways a little so the lights look like they are moving, but they are trying to stay level.

Aflac coasters, who knew

The pic of the founders, father and three sons, the Amos's

When you look at this picture what do you see?

It's a house on a parking garage!

The founder and his wife lived there, he for 3 years and her for another 10 years.

This was too cool!

Bruger King in a house, go figure

Piggly Wiggly's

The Printing press, where all the Aflac policys are printed

Mikel with our Aflac tour guide, she took us around all the Aflac stuff in Columbus

The Chattonoga river

We ate lunch right by that river. After lunch there were some Aflac booths set up, where you can ask questions and things about the workings of Aflac. Plus you can pick up some pretty cool stuff. Then we made our trip back to Atlanta where we had dinner inspired by Nascar. It was a BBQ buffet basically. After dinner we decided to go swimming in the pool, with our friends from Colorado. It was quite fun at first then it got cold or at least I got cold. After we got out we decided to walk around Atlanta to get some dessert. We were on our way to a place that was reccomended to us from the concerige, then we ran into a Hard Rock Cafe. Mikel and I have never been to one before so we decided to go and see what it was all about and eat. We decided to get an appitizer and drinks to start with. I ended up getting a wildberry smoothee that was a pink ribbon sponsered drink. As we were waiting on our drinks and food we wandered around to see everything on the walls, it was amazing the stuff you see there, and also wandered into the retail store. Then our watress let us know that our food was there is didn't want it to get cold, so we ate. Then we ordered dessert, and looked around the store again and decided to get some shirts and a bear for Dillon. The watress once again came by to let us know that our dessert was ready. After we finished dessert we were ready to head to bed, so we did.

Atlanta Trip Day 1

Things started early Thursday morning, dropping Dillon off and catching our 8:55am flight to Atlanta. We dropped Dillon off at my in-laws house and then Mikel's mom drove us to the airport. I was so tired that morning. I had a hard time keeping my eyes open, but since this was my first time flying I was also a little gitty and excited... I take that back I was extremely gitty and excited!! When we got there and got our luggage checked, it was on to getting through security. I was unsure about how fast were were going to get through, but surprisingly we got through rather quickly. After we made it to our concourse we decided to get some breakfast. After breakfast we went to our terminal where we would board. While waiting we saw some friends that we also going on this trip with us. It was nice to have people around that we enjoy to be around. Then after awhile it was time to board the plane. I was so nervous and also wanted a window seat (I had no idea where our seats were to be) I lucked out I got one!! We were getting all ready to go and the captian comes on the loud speaker saying that the emergency door will not latch, so we had to wait for a mechanic, that drove me crazy. I was thinking that it was going to take a while and what not, but it didn't take that long. I started to get really excited when we started to move, then as we go to the runway. Once we started down the runway it was so fun it felt like a rush. We got off the ground and it felt like we were riding a rollar coaster. I was so nervous with every little turn that the plane made. Once we were stable I pulled out my ipod an listened to that while watching the screen on the back of the seat in front of me of where we were and all the info about altitude, MPH, wind, time left in flight, current time, and current time at destination. I was able to catch a little sleep but not much. The landing was quite fun although right before we landed we ran into a little turbulence. It felt like we were going over little hills, but never before have I had my stomach jump so much in one time. From the airport we caught the bus to our Hotel. The Hyatt Regency in Atlanta. It was so big!! There is 22 floors to this hotel.

This is inside of the hotel.

These are the coolest elevators ever! They were so fun and fast.

Here are some pics of Atlanta from the balcony of our hotel room

After we got settled I called my cousin who was in Atlanta, so I was lucky to be able to meet up with him. He works for Delta as a Flight Attandent so I was lucky that he was in town that weekend. We decided with my cousin as well as that other couple that flew out with us that we would check out Olympic park. The olympics were there in '96 i believe.

Olympic Park

My cousin Travis

This a water garden and there was no water, because the water was low there so they had to conserve

I thoght this was funny, this is right by the water garden.

When I saw this I though it was pretty cool then we got closer.

Underneath there were flags from all over the world!

Apparently it is called Quilt of Nations

After looking around at the park we decided to go to the World of Coca Cola.

The Coca Cola Store

We had so much fun. The Coca Cola factory was a blast! We then had dinner that night and left early to meet up with my cousin and his wife. This was the first time I had met his wife. We then decided to wander Atlanta and ran into a bum who wanted money. Then we made it to the Mcdonalds and got some fries to share and a couple drinks and I got a cone. Then after that we decided to end the night.

That was Day 1 look for Day 2 coming soon.
